Privacy Policy
Effective Date: September 25, 2025
This Privacy Policy explains how SeniorPath.org (“SeniorPath,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, sells, and safeguards personal information when you use our website and services (the “Services”). By using the Services, you agree to this Policy.
Plain-English summary: SeniorPath is free to users because we earn revenue by sharing or selling contact and related information to carefully selected partners who can provide senior-living resources and related services. You can opt out of sale/sharing where required by law, and you retain rights described below.
1) Scope & Roles
SeniorPath is the “controller” of personal information collected via the Services. This Policy does not cover independent third-party sites/services we link to—review their policies separately.
2) Information We Collect
(A) Information You Provide
- Contact & identifiers: name, email, phone, postal/ZIP code, IP address, and similar.
- Questionnaires & preferences: information you voluntarily provide to help us match you with senior-living and related services (e.g., preferences, budget, timing).
- Wellness questionnaires (sensitive personal information you choose to provide): information about mental well-being, memory, mobility, activities of daily living, fall risk, medication routines, caregiving needs, and related functional status.
- Note: SeniorPath is not a covered entity under HIPAA, but we treat wellness information as sensitive and apply heightened safeguards and access controls. Where required by law (e.g., certain state “consumer health data” acts), we will seek separate, unambiguous consent before processing or selling/sharing such data.
- Communications & submissions: inquiries, reviews, survey responses, customer-support messages.
(B) Information Collected Automatically
- Device and network data (browser type/version, device IDs, IP address), usage analytics (pages viewed, time on site, clicks), approximate location (based on IP), and data from cookies, pixels, and similar technologies.
(C) Information from Other Sources
- Partners, referral networks, data brokers, analytics/advertising vendors, public databases, and affiliates.
3) How We Use Personal Information
- Provide and improve the Services, including eligibility assessments and matching.
- Make referrals to senior-living communities, care providers, advisors, and related services.
- Communicate with you and our partners about options, offers, and updates.
- Personalize & analyze content and measure performance.
- Security & integrity, fraud prevention, debugging, and compliance.
- Business operations including reporting, audits, and transactions (e.g., mergers/acquisitions).
4) Sharing, Selling, and Disclosure — and Why
We disclose, share, and in some cases sell personal information—including contact details and the questionnaire information you provide—to:
- Senior-living communities and care providers so they can evaluate fit, contact you, and provide options.
- Advisors, referral partners, and marketing/technology vendors who help us route, manage, score, and deliver leads; verify service areas; and provide support tooling (CRM, email/SMS platforms, cloud hosting, analytics, consent management).
- Affiliates and prospective acquirers as part of routine operations and potential transactions.
Why we do this (in clear English)
Providing you with up-to-date options, tools, and human support at no cost requires us to finance the platform through data-driven referrals. Selling or sharing your contact and relevant profile information allows providers to evaluate fit quickly, reach out efficiently, and offer current pricing/availability. That revenue enables us to:
- Keep the platform free for families and caregivers.
- Continuously improve matching accuracy and coverage across geographies and care types.
- Maintain modern security and reliability (infrastructure isn’t cheap!).
- Offer timely outreach from multiple vetted options so you can compare.
Your control: Where required by law, you can opt out of sale/sharing at any time (see Section 7). Opting out may reduce the number and speed of referrals.
Other Disclosures
- Service providers (processors). Vendors receive only what’s necessary to perform services for us under contracts with confidentiality and security commitments.
- Legal & safety. We may disclose information to comply with law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and property.
- De-identified/aggregate. We may share insights that do not identify you.
5) Cookies, Analytics & Advertising
We and partners use cookies, pixels, and similar tech for essential functions, analytics, and advertising/retargeting. You can manage cookies in your browser or device. Blocking some cookies may impact the site’s functionality. We currently do not respond to “Do Not Track” signals.
6) Sensitive & Wellness Information — Extra Protections
- We minimize who can access wellness questionnaire data internally, encrypt data in transit and at rest where feasible, and segregate systems to reduce risk.
- We do not require you to provide wellness data to browse general resources. If you do provide it, we use it to improve matches and referrals tailored to your needs.
- Consent & local laws. In jurisdictions requiring it (e.g., certain “consumer health data” laws), we will present distinct consent before processing or selling/sharing wellness questionnaire data. You may withdraw consent at any time (see Section 7).
7) Your Privacy Rights & Choices
Depending on your location, you may have some or all of the following rights:
- Access/Portability — request a copy of your data.
- Correction — fix inaccuracies.
- Deletion — ask us to delete personal information (subject to legal exceptions).
- Opt-Out of Sale/Sharing/Targeted Ads — stop us from selling or sharing your personal information (including wellness data where applicable).
- Limit Use of Sensitive Data — restrict use/disclosure of sensitive categories where required by law.
- Withdraw Consent — for processing based on consent (including wellness questionnaires in some states).
How to exercise: Email
jake@seniorpath.org with your request and sufficient information to verify your identity (and, if applicable, your authority as an authorized agent). We will respond per applicable law. We may decline requests as permitted by law (e.g., inability to verify, legal obligations).
Notice of Financial Incentive (where required): SeniorPath is free to users. In some states, exchanging your data for free services may be considered a “financial incentive.” Participation is voluntary; you may withdraw at any time by contacting
jake@seniorpath.org or using provided opt-out tools.
8) Data Retention
We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including providing Services, complying with legal duties, resolving disputes, and enforcing agreements. Retention periods vary by data type and context.
9) Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10) Children’s Privacy
The Services are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child provided us information, contact
jake@seniorpath.org and we will delete it as required.
11) International Transfers
We may transfer personal information to jurisdictions with different data-protection laws. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., contractual clauses).
12) Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Effective Date” above reflects the latest version. Material changes will be posted on this page and, where appropriate, we may notify you by email or site notice. Continued use means you accept the updated Policy.
